TAVO is the dynamic collaboration of chef Juan Suarez De Lezo and Francisco Decrescenzo. They both wanted to create a restaurant offering outstanding food, unparalleled service, and a unique dining experience.

The cuisine is a skillful combination of Latin flavors.  At TAVO, each plate is a work of art that infuses a variety of textures, flavors, colors with a modern flair.

Inspired by the beauty of the Green Mountains at the foot of Sierra Madre Oriental, the interior of the restaurant infuses copper, green highlights and industrial accents as reminders of the striking mountain range and industrial city of Monterrey that sits in the valley below. The restaurant is located in a historic building in the West Village.

The TAVO name was inspired by Francisco’s grandfather Gustavo, a man with an enduring passion for quality and hard work. He embodies the values Juan and Francisco bring to the restaurant, and the name serves as a wonderful reminder of their Latin roots.

Juan Suarez De Lezo, Executive Chef

Juan began his career at Le Cardinal in London before completing the Culinary Arts program at Le Cordon Bleu (Paris) in 2006. After graduation, Juan developed his skills by cooking throughout Europe, working at La Maison, and studying under the Andalusian and Basque regions' top Michelin-starred chefs. Juan then traveled to New York and landed his big break at Per Se in 2009. In 2010 he moved to Lima, Peru to study the Peruvian - Japanese cuisine, Nikkei. After seven months at famed restaurant, El Bulli de Lezo returned to the bustling streets of New York to work at the "World's Best Restaurant,” Eleven Madison Park.

Francisco Decrescenzo, Managing Partner

A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Francisco brings his lifelong passion for the restaurant industry, operational prowess and business acumen to the TAVO team. A graduate of NYU Stern with concentrations in finance and management, he spent time working in Ernst & Young’s (EY) New York Advisory Services office. Prior to his time with EY, Francisco advised startups with ProChile, Madrid.
